Year 5/6 gets a GRIP on leadership
By Adelaide Laurie
It started early on Wednesday morning, when eager children were waiting impatiently to get on the bus. Buzzing and bubbling with chatter we set off on our journey to Armidale to the GRIP leadership conference. We didn’t know what the day would hold but the bus was filled with exhilarated children ready to face the day ahead.
Excitement filled the air as we scrambled off the coach. Stepping into the Ex-Services function room we were greeted by the friendly smiling faces of the GRIP leadership team. The objective of our day was to help us realise our full leadership potential. With fun activities designed to get us interacting with students from other schools, push us out of ourcomfort zone, help us make new friends and develop skills to be great leaders within ourcommunities. Skills we practice today but will use for the rest of our lives.
Did we achieve this goal? I think yes! With flying colours! I now feel confident to support others where needed and assist in places I couldn’t before. I also feel more confident putting myself in tricky and challenging situations and handling them successfully.
The dance off at the end absolutely made the day for me!
I would like to thank Mrs Davey and Mr Hyatt for accompanying us. And also, to Mrs Rizzi and Pittman for organising the behind-the-scenes things. And a big shout out to the GRIP team for a fun filled, action packed, definitely useful day.
