Welcome to Term 4!
Michael Halliday, Deputy Head of Secondary/Head of Senior Secondary
I can’t believe we are in Term 4 already. Strap in, because it always goes quickly!
Our Year 12s have less than two weeks of school left. This time is a good opportunity for them to consolidate their understanding and to be fully prepared for their final exams starting late October. I’m sure there will be mixed emotions as the Year 12s finish up 13 years of schooling. There will be several events held for the cohort to celebrate, including the final assembly and Secondary carnival next Friday, and the Valedictory service on Monday 19 October. We pray for God’s richest blessings on the Year 12s for their final school days, exams and future pathways.
Year 8s will be off to camp later in the term. This will no doubt be an exciting time and one filled with adventure and discovery of God’s amazing creation.
Year 9s will be undertaking ‘City Experience’. Some will be familiar with how to navigate public transport and find their way around the CBD. For others, it will be a new discovery. We hope it will be a rich learning experience for all.
All Secondary students will be finalising subject content throughout the term and completing semester assessments. Later in the term they will have an opportunity to ‘step up’ into the next year level and get a small taste of what is ahead in 2027.
At assembly next week, we will formally thank the 2026 Student Leadership team who have done a fabulous job of drawing the student community together through many events and activities throughout the year. We really do have an amazing group of students who are passionate to live out their faith in practical ways, and to them we say thank you.
We will also launch the 2027 Student Leadership application process. This is an opportunity for many students to put their hands up to lead their fellow students in positive ways in 2027. Is this a role for you? Whether or not students have ‘a badge’, I look forward to all students thinking beyond themselves and caring for other students and all people in our community and beyond.
At our Secondary Thanksgiving Service on Monday 30 November there will be an opportunity for our whole community to give thanks to God for His continued blessings on our school. Please save the date now, so we can join together to give thanks.
I look forward to a great term.
