Going for Broke – Community Screening and Panel Discussion
Thursday 29 October 2026 | 6pm – 8pm | Sun Theatre, Yarraville
Maribyrnong City Council, Hobsons Bay City Council, and IPC Health are hosting a special community screening of selected clips from Shaun Micallef’s Going for Broke, followed by a panel discussion and audience Q&A exploring gambling harm, including lived experiences, research, and ways to reduce harm in our community.
We’re very pleased to have Shaun Micallef joining us as our special guest, opening the evening, and facilitating the panel discussion. We’re also delighted to welcome a panel of speakers made up of Ian Correia (ReSPIN lived experience advocate), Simone McCarthy (Deakin University) and Damien Hopper (Prune Masters).
The event is free, with bookings essential!

Free U10 Girls Smash Series - Druids Junior Cricket
Cricket Victoria has approached Druids Junior Cricket Club about a new U10 Girls Smash Series, and we’re hoping to find some girls keen to give cricket a go.
It’s a fun, shortened format suitable for girls who haven’t played before. The proposed local series runs across four Monday evenings, 16 November to 7 December, from 6–7pm, with all equipment provided.
To help get more girls involved, the Druids will cover the full registration cost ($65) for any girls joining our team, so it will be completely free for families.
We need at least eight girls to put a team together.
More information about the Smash Series is here: https://play.cricket.com.au/play/smash-series
