ANZAC Commemorative Liturgy

Over the past fortnight, our College community gathered for a reverent ANZAC Commemorative Prayer Service, honouring those who have served in the Australian Defence Forces and acknowledging the enduring impact of their sacrifice.

We were especially honoured to welcome family members who are veterans, along with Old Virgilian veterans and community members, whose presence added great significance to the occasion for our young men.

The liturgy invited students to reflect deeply on remembrance as a responsibility, not simply a tradition, emphasising courage, service, and a commitment to peace in today’s world. Through prayer, scripture, wreath‑laying, and a moving period of silence, students engaged meaningfully with the significance of ANZAC Day, reinforcing for all the importance of working for peace and recognising both the cost of conflict and the responsibility to shape a more compassionate future.

Edmund Rice Day

Our Edmund Rice Feast Day was a vibrant celebration of faith, community, and our shared identity as a Catholic school in the Edmund Rice tradition. The day began with a whole-school Mass, led by our College Chaplain Fr Suresh, where students participated in the rich liturgical life of the College, reflecting on service, unity, and living out the Gospel in everyday actions.

Following Mass, students came together across Houses for a range of activities, building school spirit through chants, collaboration, and shared experiences. The day concluded with a whole-school gathering in the Quad, celebrating student achievement and community through performances and presentations.

It was a great day of celebration were as a whole school, both campuses came together to celebrate our Irish founder and inspiration, Edmund Rice. Edmund Rice, truly is an amazing role model for the young men in our community, a man who lived out his love of God in the service of others.

Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea

We were delighted to welcome mothers and significant women in our students’ lives to a special Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea.

This gathering centred on gratitude, recognising the quiet strength, love, and guidance that these women provide each day. Through prayer and reflection, students were encouraged to acknowledge the profound influence of these relationships, before sharing a simple but meaningful gesture of appreciation with flowers and handmade gifts.

The afternoon provided a warm and reflective opportunity for connection, celebrating the important role of mothers and carers within our College community. We were so delighted that so many mums and carers were able to join us for this afternoon of celebration of their quiet service.
