Good Afternoon Parents Students, Staff and Friends of Derinya,

Welcome back to what promises to be another busy and rewarding term at our school. It has been wonderful to see students return refreshed, ready to learn and reconnect with their friends and teachers. There are many exciting events ahead and I would like to take this opportunity to share a few highlights for the term.

ANZAC Day Assembly and Ceremony at Beauty Park

Last week our school community gathered to recognise and honour ANZAC Day through a respectful school assembly and by participating in the local ceremony at Beauty Park. Our student leaders represented the school with great pride as they laid a wreath and joined members of the community in remembering the service and sacrifice of those who have served our country.

Thank you to the students and staff who contributed at our assembly. These occasions are an important opportunity for our students to learn about history, gratitude and the values of courage, mateship and remembrance.

School Production – Coming Soon

Excitement is building as preparations continue for this year’s senior school production, which will be held at the Frankston Arts Centre. Our students and staff have been rehearsing diligently and it is wonderful to see the enthusiasm and creativity emerging.

The production provides a fantastic opportunity for students to build confidence, work collaboratively and showcase their talents in drama, music and dance.

Upcoming House Events

Our House events are also just around the corner, with Cross Country this week and Athletics scheduled for later this term. These events are always highlights of the school year and provide wonderful opportunities for students to demonstrate perseverance, teamwork and school spirit.

Students will have the chance to earn valuable points for their House while enjoying friendly competition and cheering on their peers. We encourage all students to get involved, do their best and support one another throughout these events.

A reminder that our new house school shirts are available at Primary School Wear, our uniform provider located in Mornington. Students are welcome to wear these at both house events and on Fridays as we celebrate all things house!

NAPLAN

We have recently received the preliminary results from this year’s NAPLAN assessments and are very pleased with the early indicators. While we are still analysing the data in detail, the results suggest positive growth and achievement.

These outcomes reflect the hard work and commitment of our students, the dedication of our teaching staff, and the ongoing support from families at home. Once the final reports are released later in the year, we will share a more detailed overview with the community. In the meantime, we congratulate all of our students for the effort they put into the assessments and the resilience they demonstrated during the testing period.

Thank you to our families for your continued support of the school. We are looking forward to a productive and exciting term filled with learning, community connection and celebration of our students’ achievements.

Have a wonderful weekend ahead,
