Positive Classroom Management Strategies: Entry and Exit Routines. Why They Are Important.

Across the school, staff have been working on implementing PCMS (Positive Classroom Management Strategies) entry and exit routines in classrooms to support calm, consistent, and purposeful learning environments. These routines help students begin and end lessons with clear expectations, allowing valuable learning time to be maximised while building independence, organisation and positive learning behaviours.

An important part of this process is students arriving on time for the 8.50am bell — helping everyone start the day calmly, organised and ready for learning (with shoes on the correct feet and lunchboxes accounted for!). Being punctual allows students to settle into their classrooms smoothly, connect with their classmates and begin the day alongside their peers. Consistent routines across the school provide students with a sense of predictability and safety, helping create classrooms where learners feel focused, settled and ready to shine.

Ask your child if they can tell you what the entry and exit routines are for their classroom. They should know! hopefully😁

District Cross Country

Fifty-four students recently represented Heany Park at the District Cross Country held at Kings Park in Upper Ferntree Gully . The students displayed great determination, resilience and wonderful school spirit. It was fantastic to see students encouraging one another, challenging themselves and giving their very best from start to finish — even when the course felt a little longer than expected! Every participant should be proud of their effort, positive attitude and willingness to have a go.

Events like Cross Country are a wonderful reminder that success is not only about winning, but also about perseverance, teamwork and supporting each other along the way. Well done to all our students for representing our school with pride and enthusiasm.

Congratulations to Emma T, Madeleine C, Phoebe, Mason K, Nash, Logan, Aren, Chester and Anderson who have qualified for the Division Cross Country Championships. A special congratulations to Chester M for also being the Under 10 Age Group Champion.

Thank you to our parent helpers; we are truly grateful for your support.

Prep Mother's Day Celebration

Prep students recently celebrated Mother’s Day with a warm and memorable morning honouring mums, carers and special guests.

Families enjoyed a variety of activities thoughtfully organised by staff and students, including hand massages, nail painting, crafts, hairstyling, and an array of delicious treats to share. The school was filled with laughter, conversation and a wonderful sense of community spirit throughout the celebration.

A special highlight of the afternoon was the prep students’ performance of LOVE by Hi-5, which brought plenty of smiles and applause from the audience. (Maybe a tear or two also)

The event provided a meaningful opportunity for the school community to come together and acknowledge the important role that mothers, carers, and special family members play in our students' lives each and every day.

Thanks to all the staff, students and families for their support in making the celebration such a successful and enjoyable occasion.
