Welcome to 2026 from Year 3/4!

The Year 3/4 students have made a fantastic start to the 2026 school year! We extend a warm welcome to all families, especially Angus who joined us at the beginning of the year.

In English, we are settling into the SpellEx program and are already beginning to see some positive results as students build their foundational spelling skills. In writing, we completed our first 'Cold Write', where students independently wrote a narrative inspired by the prompt, "On the doorstep." It was wonderful to see the creativity flowing!

Our focus in Maths has seen us explore the topic of Position, using grid references and directional language. We are currently immersed in Place Value, discussing the importance of understanding it—especially the value of zero—and how place value is used in real-life situations, from counting money to understanding large numbers.

In Religion, students have been learning about recognising the gifts God has given us and how to recognise and affirm those unique gifts in others within our community.

Mrs Mackson has commenced the units of First Contacts in History and describing how agricultural processes are used to grow plants and raise animals for food, clothing and shelter in Science and Technology.

A major focus so far this term has been creating a safe and respectful classroom environment where we can all thrive in our learning. The students have contributed thoughtfully to establishing our class expectations.

The Year 3 students have started the year with tremendous excitement, having recently received their instruments as part of the school's instrumental program. This is a significant step in their musical journey, and we have already seen a burst of enthusiasm in their initial lesson. This integration promises to be a rewarding experience, fostering teamwork, discipline, and a shared love for music.
