Yr 10 Work Experience 2025:

All year 10 students will be participating in work experience during the week of 25th-29th of August. This opportunity is not only a chance to explore different career paths but also to gain invaluable skills and insights into the world of work.

Students are encouraged to seek out and arrange their work placement phoning or talking in person to potential employers, however if students need assistance with this, please come and see Kirsty in the Careers and Pathways office located in the senior building for guidance and support.

Students may also visit the School to Work Home portal to see opportunities from other employers who have come forward to offer the opportunity.

All documentation required has been forwarded via the newsfeed and will need to be returned to the Careers office by Monday 4th of August, prior to commencing Work Placement.

Work Experience Arrangement Form: A signed agreement between the employer, student, parent and school.

Work Experience travel and Accommodation Form: Only to be completed if the student is required to undertake vehicle travel with the Employer, for example, between working sites, and/or if the student is required to stay at accommodation other than their normal place of residence for the duration of their work placement.

Proposed Work Experience with Animals Form: Only to be completed by students undertaking their placement in settings that work directly with animals.

A few specific employers have made contact (below), if any of these opportunities are of interest, please come and chat to Kirsty as soon as possible as these places are very limited.

  • Parliament of Victoria:

Expressions of interest to complete a work experience placement at the Parliament of Victoria in terms 3 and 4, 2025 are now open.

Students can choose between two programs, Sitting and Services, and placements are open to students in Victorian schools who are residents of Victoria, and are aged 15 years or over at the time of the placement.  We endeavour to choose students from a mixture of government, independent, and Catholic schools, from metropolitan and regional areas, and of all gender identities.

Parliamentary Sitting placements provide the opportunity to see the law-making process up close. Students will go behind the scenes with the staff who directly support the sittings of Parliament to get a deeper understanding of our democratic processes.

Parliamentary Services placements offer a variety of opportunities that can be matched with a broad range of student interests and career goals, including business operations, facilities management and maintenance, broadcast (Hansard), and hospitality (kitchen).

Please come and see Kirsty in the Careers and Pathways office to register your interest.

  • Gippsland Southern Health Service:

For students who are interested in pursuing a career or pathway into Nursing/Allied Health. Gippsland Southern Health Service (Leongatha) are offering ONLY two work placement opportunities which are delivered as a combined Nursing/Allied Health experience.

Please be advised that students cannot directly apply for these work placements, and applications MUST BE SUBMITTED BY KIRSTY AVERY (Careers and Pathways Advisor). As these opportunities are very limited, please come and see Kirsty in the Careers and Pathways office as soon as possible to register your interest and secure your place.

Apprenticeships and Traineeships

If you are interested in learning more about either full time or school-based apprenticeships or traineeships, come in and see me so that I can pop you on my radar in the event that opportunities present.

Students are reminded that employers do request to look at year 9, 10 and 11 school reports for students who are seeking an apprenticeship or traineeship. They also look at how much part time / casual work and work experience a student has undertaken so take every opportunity to build your pathway towards your end goal of an apprenticeship or traineeship nice and early.
