Messages from the Principal

Hello everyone,

Thank you for taking the time to read this fortnights newsletter.

Some exciting news ahead to share with you all is that as of week 10 and weel 11 of this term, we will be starting up our NPS Breakfast Club!

The Breakfast Club Program is available to schools via a state Government initiative, Foodbank Victoria who are an independent not-for-profit organisation and the state’s oldest and largest provider of food relief.

In 2016, the Victorian Government partnered with Foodbank Victoria to establish the School Breakfast Clubs Program in 500 of the most disadvantaged primary schools across Victoria. School eligibility was determined by the Student Family Occupation Education (SFOE) Index.

In 2019 the Victorian Government announced that the program would expand to 1000 schools (including secondary schools) and expand its service offering. After having applied to be part of this program we recievced the tick of approval and are looking forward to being able to offer ALL of our students a healthy and nutirious breakfast 2 times per week.

Our Breakfast Club will operate on Tuesday and Friday mornings from 8:30 am - 8:55 am.

I would like to share a MASSIVE thank you to all of the families who offered to come and support this program by leading it once per week. Thank you Jacinta, Merryn, Bryan, Allison, Pat, Alpna, Justin, Nat and Emily. :)

In sharing some more positive news, I recently applied for a Barwon Water Grants Program... grant, and recently found out that we were successful!

We have recieved $2,500 for our project which will look to install a more water efficient watering system in the vegtable garden as well as building and or purchasing above ground wicking beds.

Carolien and Lis, two of our amazing parents who have driven a lot of change and improvement in the vegetable garden, will oversee this project and it's spending which will be great!

A reminder that next Monday is a Public Holiday therefore there will be no school and that the Tuesday following is a Pupil Free Day as our staff will be engaging in Day 2 of the Berry Street Training off site, therefore the school is closed during this time. OurPatch will be operating on this day for families requiring support for their children.

That's it from me, have a great weekend, and GO CATS!
