Book Week: Reading is Magic

It has been a fabulous week focusing on lots of new texts to devour from our Scholastic Book Fair. Each day families have made their way into the hub to see what exciting titles are in this year's collection. Each class also visited the Book Fair on Wednesday to browse with their "Wish Lists" in hand. Each class also had the opportunity to vote for their favourite book which will now go into class libraries.

Thank you Therese Molnar for your dedication to the Book Fair and Book Week each year. This year Therese decorated the library with the Book Week theme and again coordinated the delivery of the Book Fair and parents to assist in the daily sales. We could not have held this without your helping hands!!

We can't wait to see the wonderful dress ups for tomorrow's Book Week parade! Keep reading!

Athletics Carnival

This week our Year Three to Six students engaged in our annual Athletics Carnival at the Bill Sewart Track in Burwood East. The clouds threatened but we persevered anyway and were able to complete most of the track events and even got in some of the field events. The children were most excited about the day's events and revelled in dressing up to support their teams. Each student also represented one of the countries participating in the Olympics this year and their coloured sashes told them which countries. Mr Lo Ricco will complete the field events as part of the students' PE lessons and the winning team will be announced after that. A HUGE thank you goes out to Mr Lo Ricco for his excellent organisation, all the staff who attended and supported for the day and to the many parents who eagerly marshalled, despite the threat of rain!! Thank you Leah Mahon, Hayley Betros, John Cusumano, Charlotte Jones, Jensen Jin, CHECK NAMES WITH JORDAN

Annual Parent, Staff and Student Surveys

In the coming weeks, our annual feedback surveys will be distributed to all within our community. The details from these surveys are used alongside the quadrennial School Improvement Process which helps us to set goals and targets for improvement. For details about the surveys and exactly what they cover, please see MACSSIS Survey information in the Deputy Principal's section of this newsletter. I strongly urge you to complete the survey so that we can use this information to make St Michael's School the best we can. Thank you, in anticipation.
