From the Classroom

Grade 3/4 Cyber Safety
During this term the Grade 3/4 students have been participating in the Cyber Safe Classroom project. Today's lesson was called "Under Pressure". Children are increasingly exposed to digital environments where peer pressure can influence their choices. This lesson helped students build confidence and inner strength in making safe choices online, and has empowered them to respond thoughtfully when they feel pressured. After a small group activity where students talked through different "peer pressure" scenarios, students completed a comic strip activity where they were asked to choose one scenario and draw/write what would happen if they gave in to the peer pressure, and what would happen if they didn't. Students were given example come back statements to help them respond in their real lives if they are ever put in a pressured situation online.

Physical Education
Throughout the term, students enjoyed a range of minor games, where they practised important skills such as running, dodging, throwing, catching, cooperation, and problem-solving. These games provided opportunities for students to work together, make decisions, and most importantly, have fun while being active.
Students then built on these skills through our Basketball, Netball, and Football units. They learned and refined sport-specific skills including passing, shooting, kicking, marking, defending, and moving into space. Through modified games and match play, students demonstrated excellent teamwork and a willingness to challenge themselves and try new things.
A highlight of the term was our Cross-Country event, where students challenged themselves to complete their races with determination and perseverance. It was wonderful to see students encouraging their peers and celebrating their achievements, regardless of where they finished.
Students are also looking forward to participating in our upcoming Jump Rope for Heart, "Jump Off" Day, where they will take part in a variety of skipping activities and challenges.
This week, students had a fantastic time participating in activities for our Footy Colours Day, proudly wearing their team colours.
Well done to all students on a successful and active Term 2.
Science
This term in Science, students from Years 1–6 have been exploring the world of Chemical Science, investigating how materials can change and behave in different ways.
Grade 1/2 – Spot the Difference
Students have been learning to be careful observers by exploring everyday materials and noticing what makes them different. Through hands-on activities, they looked at colour, texture, size, and shape, helping them build early science skills.
Grade 3/4 – Melting Moments
Students have been exploring how materials change when they are heated or cooled. Through fun experiments like watching chocolate, popcorn and ice melt, they made predictions, observed changes, and recorded what they noticed.
Grade 5/6 – What’s the Matter?
Students have been learning about solids, liquids, and gases and how materials can change between these states. They explored how heating and cooling affect different materials and used experiments to understand how particles behave in each state.
It has been wonderful to see students engaging in hands-on learning, asking questions, making predictions, and thinking like scientists.
