Welcome back for Term 2! I hope you and your family enjoyed a fabulous Easter break and are now enjoying a final dose of Autumn sunshine.

Building Works

Our building works progressed very well over the holiday break, with the double-storey classrooms successfully relocated. Final works are expected to be completed within the next fortnight, with our Grade 3 students looking forward to moving into these new learning spaces shortly after.

You may notice that the basketball courts are not yet reinstated. Due to essential cabling that needs to be trenched beneath the area as part of the upcoming gym development, this space will be unavailable for some time. Once works are complete and the area reopens, we will explore reinstating the basketball rings permanently. Unfortunately, temporary or portable rings are not an option as they do not meet OHS requirements.

New Grass Space

We are excited to be developing a new grassed area near the rotunda, toward the footpath at the entrance of the school. This space will provide students with an additional area for quieter play and relaxation, complementing the existing eating garden and connecting with the Indigenous garden.

This project will also help maintain soft fall areas more effectively around the playgrounds, resulting in significant cost savings over time, while making much better use of what is currently an underutilised space. Works will begin this week.

Hampton Heroes

We will begin recognising our Hampton Heroes at assemblies with a round of applause for students who have received this acknowledgement. This will take place most weeks when time permits, with students recognised from where they are seated.

As this is intended to be a brief and low-key celebration, families will not be notified to attend. We look forward to continuing to acknowledge the positive contributions of our students in this way.

Cross Country

We are looking forward to our Cross Country event tomorrow. Families are warmly invited to come along and support the students. If you are available to assist on the day, please contact Jordan Hurley. Congratulations to Jordy and Chelsea for their impeccable organisation of the event!

Celebrations

State Futsal Success!

Our Boys Futsal boys team delivered an outstanding performance, playing no fewer than eight high energy matches and progressing all the way to the grand final. In a very close and hard-fought contest, they finished as runners-up out of seven teams. This is a tremendous achievement.

The team will now progress to the Victorian Champion of Champions event, where they will compete for the opportunity to represent at the Australian Champion of Champions in Queensland. We also extend our thanks to Dean and Elliot for their coaching and support throughout the competition.

Hooptime Basketball Competition

On Monday some of our Grade 5&6 students participated in the Hooptime Basketball competition at MSAC. We had 5 teams competing in total with each of our boys and girls teams playing against each other in the Grand Final as well as our mixed team playing in their final. We will now have our boys and girls team advance to the next stage of competition. A big thank you goes to Alana Graham for her organisation and effort throughout this process. The commitment and time that she has provided each week is appreciated by all the students. Everyone who participated had such a great time and represented our school with pride!

Regional Swimming Success

In swimming, Andrei achieved excellent results at the Regional School Championships, placing 1st in the 50m butterfly and 2nd in the 50m breaststroke, narrowly missing first place by just 0.01 seconds.
