Principal's Message

Brock Wilson

Term Four is well and truly underway, and there have been many exciting things happening at Roxburgh Homestead Primary School.

Canteen Re-Opening

As a school, we’ve heard from many of you that the return of the school canteen for over-the-counter purchases has been long overdue! Led by our School Council, it has been wonderful to see this come back to life, even if the high level of demand took us by surprise on the first day! Currently, we are only operating the canteen on select days and it is entirely staffed by parent and staff volunteers. Keep an eye on Compass as we communicate ahead of time regarding what days we will open and what we will have for sale, as this will change depending on availability. All proceeds from canteen purchases are going directly to our end of year ‘Success Day’ event, so we thank all families supporting this throughout the term. Special thank you to all parents who have helped us get this up and running – it is much appreciated!

Student Free Days – Monday 3rd of November and Monday 10th of November

I wrote to all families last term to inform you about the upcoming student free days at our school. Monday the 3rd of November has been designated as a Report Writing Day and Monday the 10th of November is a Curriculum Day. Students will not be able to attend school on those days. On the 10th of November, our staff will be working with Department of Education regional staff to improve the literacy programs we have in place in our classrooms. Further reminders will be sent out as these dates approach, but please pop them on your calendars so you do not forget.

Sunsmart Term – Hats

We also wrote to all families earlier this term with a reminder that all students in all government schools are required to wear a hat when playing outside at lunch time and recess. This is now being strictly enforced, with students required to stay in designated shaded areas if they do not have their hats. Please support us with this by ensuring your child is coming to school with a hat. You can speak with our office team if you need help obtaining a school hat, or a suitable broad-brimmed alternative.

2026 Enrolments

Finally, another reminder to any families that have students joining us at Roxburgh Homestead Primary School next year – please see our office staff as soon as possible to organise your enrolment. This will help us prepare and best support your child for this big transition. We are seeing a lot of interest in our school for next year, which is fantastic.

That’s all for another fortnight – keep smiling and we will see you all next week.

Kind Regards,

Brock Wilson

Principal
