Symphonic Winds Supporting Reconciliation

On Thursday 30 May Symphonic Winds presented the first ever large ensemble music performance in the PAC Auditorium. The performance was at the end of the Junior School Assembly that was focused on Reconciliation. The Band’s performance of Joy by Frack Ticheli rounded off a series of talks by guest speakers, including Shu Brown from BADAC and our own Indigenous Education Facilitator Darren Burns.

Take a bow, Ms Katrina Bird!

This was also a significant performance as it was the last performance for Musical Director Ms Katrina Bird before she goes on Family Leave on Friday. Thank you Katrina for all of your work with the band this year and best wishes for the birth of your child in the coming weeks!

Music Camp

There are excited students from five different ensembles headed off to Burnside Camp Anglesea this weekend! Symphonic Winds, Senior Stage Band, Junior Stage Band, Contemporary Band and Percussion Ensemble will all be spending two nights away and intensively working on their repertoire for the remainder of the year. No doubt the Music Captain’s Trivia and other “downtime” activities will be a great feature too!

The Camp will culminate with a performance back at school on Sunday afternoon at 3.30pm in the PAC. This will be a shorter concert, approximately an hour, and will showcase the new skills that flow on from intensive camp experiences. Friends, family and members of the College community are welcome to come. No bookings required.

Many thanks to staff who are giving up their weekend to run this great program – Mr Matt Pankhurst, Mr Thomas Forsyth, Mr Will Stephens, Mr Tim Snibson, Ms Eleanor Parry and Ms Mary Dyer.
