Year 7 2019 Information Evening

Recently the college held an Information Evening for prospective parents of Year 7 Students for 2018.  The evening included school tours conducted by the Junior School Student Leadership team and Key Learning Areas Displays showcasing student work and college achievements.  The evening was well attended by both parents and students with some great feedback about the Teaching and Learning programs at the college.

2018 Grade Open Day

Our Open Day was a great success, where we hosted Grade 6 students from neighbouring primary schools. The students experienced our fantastic teaching and learning program as they took part in interactive lessons prepared by our teachers. They made their own pizzas and 3D illusion art and learnt how to crack the geolocation code on digital photos. Our Transition Program has been designed to assist students make a seamless transition from primary to secondary schooling and our Open Day is a key part of the successful program. Thank you to all the teachers and students who assisted on the day.

Uniform

Thank you to parents for your assistance in ensuring your son/daughter leaves for school each morning wearing the correct uniform. The School’s culture is that all students wear the College uniform every school day. If your child is not able to wear the uniform, please provide a note and remind them to obtain a uniform pass from their form teacher.

A reminder that there was a 3 week change over from summer to winter uniform at the beginning of Term 2. After the first 3 weeks all students are expected to be wearing the winter uniform. Please check your child’s diary or handbook for winter uniform items.

Attendance Strategies

We all want our students to get a great education, and the building blocks for a great education begin with students coming to school each and every day. Missing school can have a major impact on a child’s future – a student missing one day a fortnight will miss four full weeks by the end of the year. By Year 10 they’ll have missed more than a year of school. It is important that children develop habits of regular attendance at an early age.

You can talk with school staff (such as a teacher, year level coordinator, wellbeing staff, careers staff, assistant principal or principal) to find out what support they can provide to keep your teenager attending and engaged.
