Discovery Day!

Discovery Day was held on Tuesday 25th July 2023.  This unique day aims to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world careers.  It provided students with the valuable opportunity to explore and connect their academic knowledge with future pathways.

On Discovery Day students from Year 8 – 10 had the chance to delve into various career options and gain a deeper understanding of the practical applications of their studies and the electives on offer. By linking their learning with careers, CSC students will be able to envision the possibilities that lie ahead and make informed decisions about their future paths.

Students were able to visit a diverse range of exhibitions from learning areas and speak to representatives from TAFEs, Universities and Apprenticeships programs.  These engaging workshops and demonstrations conducted throughout the day allowed students to actively participate and experience various careers-related activities, including coding, robotics, culinary arts, graphics and theatre.  Students left with an understanding of the practical applications of their learning and a spark of interest in specific fields.

To further support Year 10 students in their career exploration as they begin their final journey of formal education, they had a one-to-one career counselling session. These sessions, with parents/carers helped students align their interests, skills, and aspirations with potential career paths, ensuring they make informed decisions about their educational and professional journeys.  Attendance and participation by Year 10 students and parent/carers was at an all-time high.

Discovery Day is not just a one-time event, but a steppingstone towards a bright future.  It is designed to inspire and empower CSC students to dream big, explore their passions and make informed decision about their career pathways.
