Wellbeing

Kate Bonazza - Primary Wellbeing officer

Bundoora Primary is super excited to be rolling out the Respectful Relationships and Resilience Project Programs this year.

The Respectful Relationships Program is part of the Victorian Curriculum and students will learn to develop their knowledge, understanding and skills to strengthen their sense of self, and build and manage safe and respectful relationships. Students will learn to recognise and regulate emotions, develop empathy for others and establish and build positive relationships. The Resilience Project is committed to teaching positive mental health strategies to prevent mental ill-health and build young people's capacity to deal with adversity. Our school is working with the Resilience Project School Partnership Program by implementing their evidence-based Teaching and Learning Program throughout all our classrooms and our school community. This Wellbeing program will be a whole school approach, teachers and students have started to engage in weekly lessons and activities around the key principles of Gratitude, Empathy, Mindfulness (GEM) and Emotional Literacy to help build resilience. I look forward to sharing more about both these programs with you throughout the term.

Victorian schools are required under the Child Safety and Wellbeing Act to ensure that they implement compulsory Child Safe Standards to protect students from harm. Bundoora Primary School is committed to child safety. The Child Safe Standards are set out to create safe places for all students. Bundoora Primary School will ensure that students are protected to the best of our ability in line with our duty of care and the compulsory Standards. As a school we meet our legal and moral obligations, and we follow our mandated requirements rigorously.
