From the Assistant Principal
The 3Rs
Here we go again! Lockdown 2.0 and this time the novelty (if there was one) has worn off for most of us! The great news is though that Kalinda has swung straight back into keeping connected with each other in flexible ways. Your teachers and support staff have prepared rich, rewarding and engaging work for your student to complete. Having said that, our highest priority is the welfare of you and your family.
In order to emerge from all this in a resilient way, the minimum we ask you to do is stay engaged with school and/or your teacher in whatever manner that you can. Of course we encourage you to continue remote learning each day, however we also want you to take the best care that you can of yourself and your family. Some days you will be able to absolutely smash out lots of work which is great! Some days it might mean choosing to focus on the 3Rs (reading, resting, reconnecting). Please choose wisely for the good of your family.
You and your family are incredibly important to us, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Lauren.
Anxiety
This article is a reprint from our last newsletter, and just as relevant now!
Recently I was fortunate to attend a session with psychologist Dr Michael Carr-Gregg. The opportunity to discuss student wellbeing 'post-Covid' was a great opportunity to hear about what resources are out there to support families.
One thing we know across Australia is there has been a rise in anxious behaviours in children. This can present in so many different ways in our children. If you are concerned about your child's behaviour and you would like more information about anxiety in children you might find the following resources interesting.
