Sorry Day

Acknowledgement of Sorry Day

Yesterday we acknowledged Sorry Day with various activities throughout the day. During Homegroup, students listened as the Acknowledgement of Country was shared over the loudspeaker. During their lessons, students had opportunities to reflect on the meaning of the day by exploring stories and experiences about the Stolen Generation.  During lunchtime songs with an indigenous connection were performed by the KDC Stage Band, the Year 11 and the Year 12 music classes. The School Choir performed the song Inanay in Yorta Yorta- the language of the people from the Goulburn and Murray River Junction. As well, the Year 9 Dance class gave their interpretation of the song Solid Rock. Students also had the opportunity to pledge their support for the day, and its significance, via the ‘handprint activity’. Overall, the day was a reflective and respectful acknowledgment of the importance of Sorry Day. Thank you to everyone involved in the planning and delivering of the day.
