Mathematics
This term in maths we have been learning all about place value, length and graphing data. We have been building and making numbers, measuring and comparing the lengths of items, using directional and positional language and asking questions to collect information to graph.
Responsible pet ownership- living safely with dogs incursion
On Monday 20th of March (Week 8), Lower School was involved in a Responsible Pet Ownership incursion.
Students learnt about:
10 students from each year level were chosen to model how to safely approach an unknown dog, asking to pat their dog.
A group of students from each year level were chosen to model when and when not to approach a dog depending on their body language. Students had fun acting out the given scenarios.
We thank Dearne and Leica for coming into our school to educate our students on how to live safely with pets.
Year 4 and Year 2 students were super excited to be paired up as buddies. Students enjoyed working together in cooperative learning activities with the Year 4's supporting their Year 2 buddies. Our second buddy activity of the year was topped off with a buddy picnic on the oval. We look forward to our next buddy activity on student voice.
Student's across have been learning about Culture. Foundations have been learning about what the culture of school means and their role within CSPS. Years 1-2 are learning about Cultures that are "The Same but Different." Year 1's and 2's are given the chance to compare other cultures with their family culture. Years 3-6 are looking at how "Cultural practices and traditions influence the way we interact with each other." This allows the upper school to embrace cultural diversity and compare these traditions with our own and other countries. We are appreciating the multiculturalism of Victoria and working towards celebrating Cultural Diversity week in a way that reflects the students learning.
