Choice-Based Art at The Lakes

This year in Visual Arts, students are learning about the art world through their own learning journey as an artist. The art room is the student’s art studio where materials are gradually made available for students to choose as they wish to create their own artwork. Students will be creating art based on their interests and their ideas as that is what real-life artists do. 

Our first term back for 2022 has been exciting. Students have been keen to get back into creating and exploring. They experimented and explored with a variety of drawing, painting, modelling and collage materials to create their own artwork. A number of students have also collaborated on pieces of artworks. 

Students have also begun to take responsibility of their own learning by thinking of an idea, gathering their materials, setting up their art space with the available materials to create and clean up after themselves. They are also reflecting on the progress of their artworks by thinking about their goals, what they will do next and look at what parts of their art may need attention.
