Music & Choir

Primary Performing Arts Term 1:

Terms 1 & 2 are our music focus at The Lakes. The program has been designed to ensure students are having a practical experience to playing various musical instruments and exploring the foundations of rhythm, melody and tempo.

The Preps have begun exploring music and sounds through rhymes and songs. The Year 1's and 2's have been working though the elements of music. The Year 3's have been learning how to create their own rhythmical compositions. The Year 4's have been studying bucket drumming. The Year 5's have been exploring tuned percussion including the glockenspiel and the Year 6's have been learning about the ukulele and drums. 

We are extremely excited to take our music endeavors to the next level in Term 2! 

2022 Choir!

We are so excited to be able to have a choir again this year now that restrictions have eased. At the start of the term, the students in years 4-6 auditioned by singing a short excerpt of a song and have been rehearsing weekly in the music room. We are learning songs by local and international artists and are hoping we are able to do some performances in Term 2 when we build on our repertoire. As well as songs, we are learning vocal warm ups and technique to ensure we are projecting our voices and singing in tune and in time as an ensemble.
