Term 1 Reflection

Returning to school in 2022 brought much relief to our community as students, staff and families donned their mask's and made for The Lakes. The excitement and anticipation for a year of learning opportunities was evident in the smiles and greetings, high fives, hugs, knuckles and elbows. Appreciating the freedom of the grounds, being able to play on courts and just enjoy each other was amazing.

The new year brought changes in staff where we have welcomed the following staff:

Alicia - Prep
Olivia - Year 5
Jaz- Year 6
Lettitia - Technology
Lisa - Math
Jemimah - Wellbeing

iPads and netbooks have appeared in classrooms, taking leaning to a new dimension. Additionally, students are thinking about the what, how and why of learning to build curiosity and empowerment in their learning.

My highlights in Term 1

  • Presentation of College Leaders
  • Multi-Cultural day celebrating diversity
  • The return of sport in schools
  • Pathways and active work placement for senior students
  • Year 7 Camp
  • Hands on and project based learning in action
  • The mural in the foyer
  • Secondary Athletics Carnival

Term 1 has had its challenges but together we are getting there. Modeling of community values and acceptable boundaries are crucial as we navigate our way through, Covid, flood, fire and conflict. Talk to your families and make them feel safe.
