The Six Writing Traits - Word Choice

We’ve all read text that created the images in our mind’s eye. Precise word choice is not about using flowery synonyms, or a long list of adjectives, it’s choosing the word that is exactly what is needed to convey the image and meaning to the reader.

In Room 11 the students have been considering their word choice and its effect on the reader. Here are some samples and snippets of writing. These have been selected by the students prior to teacher conferencing.
