Welcome to Physical Education for Term 3. I am Prue Ainsworth, the new PE teacher. I am looking forward to getting to know the students and organising another jam-packed term of sport. This term the junior classes will focus on developing fundamental motor skills through relays, games and circuits using handheld equipment including bean bags, hula hoops and balls. The rules and safety aspects of each game will be focused on while learning the correct vocabulary to talk about movement and physical activity. We will work in pairs or small groups focusing on cooperation, which will help us to develop throwing and catching skills. Within each class mutual respect and good sportsmanship will also be promoted and discussed while having as much fun as we can.
The senior classes will be introduced to more complex motor skills and movements. dribbling, throwing, catching and striking will be the main focus. Fun games such as Basketball, soccer, dodge-ball, tennis and cricket will be used to demonstrate and practice each skill area. Group challenges that require strategic thinking and trial and error will promote teamwork and cooperation at the start of the term, as sportsmanship will be a major focus throughout the year.
Don’t forget our Jump Rope for Heart event is in Week 7 with more details to come! All students will be practicing in preparation for the event ☺
Hi everyone, I'm so excited to be teaching music at Loch PS! In my first week I shared the Music Count Us in 2019 Song "We Are" with students. The link to the YouTube song clip can be accessed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYUwYAxF4VA Music Count Us In is an annual event where school students across Australia learn to sing a song and then sing it at the same time. This year we will be singing it on Friday 7th November with a live stream to other locations around Australia.
