Building Update

Photo taken 07.02.2023.

Since our last Bulletin, the very last building was demolished leaving no trace of our original school buildings on site. Our Junior School teachers and students completed their move into the new building, known as The Learning Community, in the last 2 weeks of Term 2. Most of the new furniture has arrived and our students are very settled in their new spaces. These new classrooms have more room to move and are bathed in natural light. The students are very excited and commenting on how much they enjoy working in these new areas.

The central room, The Life Skills Hub is still being used by the builders so it will not be available for our staff and students until Term 4. This allows the site shed on the oval to be removed and the oval works to continue without interruption. The staff carpark on Balmoral Avenue will soon be available to be used by our staff again to allow the works on the oval to be completed. The new carpark will have lights and security to ensure easy access for our staff.

There are a number of defects to be rectified in the Learning Community, and these are well on the way to completion.

The major focus now moves onto the gardens and landscaping which include the laying of our fundraising bricks in the central courtyard. Unfortunately, due to these works, the oval will not be available for use until the latter part of the term. Planting will take place at the final stages of the project to allow the garden to have the school holidays to begin to get established.

Term 3 began with continued plumbing issues that relate to the old pipes; however, work is under way to fix the issue which mainly affects the Discovery Centre toilets.

Unfortunately, we also have an issue at the moment with unknown people vandalising our school buildings through tagging. This is not only done with markers paint etc., but also with etching/scratching into paint work, especially on the Discovery Centre. This is very disappointing and will be a costly exercise to rectify the damage done.

Please report any occurrences of vandalism you or your children are aware of to me asap. Also, please talk with your children in relation to taking care of our school grounds and how reporting inappropriate behaviour will help put a stop to this type of damage to the school. Anonymity will be maintained at all times.

If it any time you have any questions, ideas or concerns regarding the build, please come and see me or email me at your earliest convenience.

Thank you for your continued support and interest in our building program.
