WELLBEING

Some of our Year 1/2 have just completed the CASEA program. The Austin Health program has worked in partnership with our schools Wellbeing team to support children’s social, emotional and behavioural development. The program has been developed to help students understand and express emotions. Congratulations to our Year 1/2 students and their parents who have completed the 8-week program.

CALM Youth has been a huge hit in Wellbeing with several of our 5/6 students participating in an early intervention program titled ‘Inspiring Purpose through Passion’. Students completed a 5-week self-discovery portfolio centred around their passions and interests. Throughout the sessions students focused on the principles of CALM – Composure, Ambitious, Leaders & Mentality.  We hope that the students who attended the program left feeling empowered and equipped with a ‘CALM’ version of themselves which they can continue to develop.

In the final part of The Resilience Project's parent series, Hugh shares an important message about allowing our children to experience adversity. The key to building resilience in our children is allowing them to experience failure, hardship, disappointment etc. As parents, we can be too quick to resolve our children's challenges which can deprive our children of enormous growth opportunities. These typically happen when we experience failure and uncertainty. As parents we should be there for our children when they fail, but not fight their battles for them.
