The Barta Lads 

The 4 May edition of The Mercury carried this Chris Kidd picture (above) by way of promoting the 2023 Uni Review - the 75th edition - and there in the middle is OV Frank Barta (SVC 1975-80).  Frank is obviously a man of many talents – as well as his thespian pursuits, it was noted that he recently performed solo guitar/vocalist at the Brinktop Vineyard at Penna.

Upon leaving the College, Frank went on to UTAS where he studied commerce, accounting and business management. He became a Fellow CPA Australia and of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Frank held the position of Corporate Treasurer at the Clarence City Council for 25 years (1993-2018).

Frank’s brother Paul also attended the College (SVC 1981-85). He joined the Australian Army and currently holds the rank of Colonel and last heard of was the Australian Defence Attache at Manila in the Philippines.

Over the years Paul has obtained the following qualifications: 

• Bachelor of Professional Studies Political Economy from University of New England 1989 – 1996
• Bachelor of Arts – History and English from University of Adelaide 1994 – 1998
• Master of Management in Defence Studies Defence from University of Canberra 2004
• Master of Arts – MA International Relations from Deakin University   2005 - 2007
