Welcome to Level Six and 2023

The Level Six team extends a warm welcome to GWPS families, new and old. We hope everyone is excited for and looking forward to another fabulous year of learning.  Since we have returned to school it has been wonderful to see so many familiar faces in addition to welcoming new families to our community.  As a team, it is our great honour to journey with and guide your child through their final year of primary school.  Year Six is a year level that comes with its own unique challenges and experiences. Our days are filled with opportunities to explore different passions, stretch the imagination, build leadership traits, participate in a range of events and celebrate our achievements.

This year, our highly capable Level Six team consists of up to eight team members. Seven of our team members are returning from previous years and may have already worked with your child in some capacity across the school.  Mrs Kylie Bailey (Teaching and Learning Leader, Data Literacy Learning Specialist) and Mrs Jackie Gilbert are teaching 6A. Mr Robert Lou (Assistant TaLL) is teaching 6B, while Miss Bianca Liburti and Mr Youssef are teaching 6C and 6D respectively. Finally, Mrs Anna Hardy and Mrs Adriana Parsons are teaching 6E. In addition to this, we welcome Ms Samantha-Jayne Beh, a new member of our teaching staff, who is teaching 6F. Collectively, the Level Six team will bring many years of teaching experience, passion and knowledge towards educating our students. Please read below for a more detailed introduction of each team member.

Meet Mrs Bailey (6A)

Hi wonderful Level 6 Families! My name is Mrs Kylie Bailey and I have the absolute pleasure of teaching 6A this year with Mrs Jackie Gilbert. I first began teaching here at Glen Waverley Primary School in 2011 and have enjoyed teaching in numerous roles throughout the school. My house is very full with my husband, two beautiful girls who are in Prep and Grade 3, four gorgeous bunnies and three cockatiels. I love to read, have a red belt in karate and enjoy experiencing other cultures through travelling to different countries. I really look forward to the coming year and seeing the learners in 6A flourish and succeed as lifelong learners!

Meet Mrs Gilbert (6A)

Hello, my name is Jackie Gilbert, and I am very honoured to be teaching the amazing students in 6A on Thursdays and Fridays this year.  I have been a teacher at Glen Waverley Primary School since 2004 and have had the pleasure of having a variety of roles and teaching students from across all year levels.  I am very passionate about education and creating an inclusive and safe learning environment, whereby each student is encouraged to be creative, share their voice, think divergently and challenge themselves.  I feel very privileged to teach your children in their last year of Primary School and foster lifelong memories with them. Outside of school, I love spending time with my family and friends, especially watching my two children Riley and Kaitlyn play sport, walking my two dogs or planning my next travel adventure.

Meet Mr Lou (6B)

Hi everyone, my name is Robert Lou and I have the pleasure of teaching 6B. It may be the start of the year, but I can already tell they are a very enthusiastic, passionate and energetic group of students. 2023 will be my fifth year as a primary school teacher and my fifth year as a part of the Glen Waverley Primary School family. As an educator, I love mathematics, science and digital technology, as they were my areas of interest when I was still in school. Outside of school, I like to spend my time cooking, socialising with friends, playing video games and viewing films from a range of cultures. If your child has any interest in these areas, please encourage them to have a conversation with me! If you see me around the school grounds, feel free to come and say hello!

Meet Miss Liburti (6C)

Hi, my name is Bianca Liburti and I am thrilled to be teaching 6C this year. I have been a part of the Glen Waverley Primary School community since 2017 and have taught many year levels over my time here, including some of the wonderful 6C learners just last year when they were in Year 5. I have a Border Collie puppy named Nala, she is four months old and full of energy. I enjoy travelling and have been to over 20 countries. I hope to continue adding to the list as I have a great interest in immersing myself in new cultures and experiences.

Meet Mr Youssef (6D)

My name is Riley Youssef, and I am the classroom teacher for 6D. This is my second year of teaching at Glen Waverley Primary School, and I am enjoying every minute of it so far! I have a wonderful group of students, and I feel very fortunate to be a part of the amazing Level 6 team. My interests outside of school include reading, sport, socialising and adventuring. I love a good joke, and I am always up for a chat - so if you see me around school, please don’t hesitate to introduce yourself!

Meet Mrs Parsons (6E)

Hi! My name is Adriana Parsons and I am excited to be co-teaching 6E this year. I have been at Glen Waverley Primary School for six years in the junior years. This is my first-time teaching Year Six and I can’t wait to work with such a great group of students! I have a 1-year-old son, Oliver and a 3-year-old Labradoodle, Milo. My favourite place to travel is Singapore to eat at as many Hawker stalls as I can find. My husband and I thoroughly enjoy eating and cooking and hosting dinner parties. If you see me around the school don’t hesitate to come and introduce yourself.

Meet Mrs Hardy (6E)

Hello! My name is Anna Hardy, and I am thrilled to be teaching such an enthusiastic group of learners on Wednesday to Friday this year. I have been at Glen Waverley Primary School since 2005 and after teaching PE and TSL for the past six years, I am really excited to be back in the classroom again. In my spare time I love reading and doing exercise as well as spending time with family and friends. I have two daughters, Emma and Fiona, and a 15-year-old black labradoodle named Molly. I love being a part of an amazing Level Six team and look forward to getting to know all of you better over the year.

Meet Ms Beh (6F)

Greetings! I am Samantha-Jayne Beh, 6F classroom teacher for 2023, and I am thrilled to join the wonderful community at Glen Waverley Primary School and continue my teaching journey with an incredible group of students. I am currently in my sixth year of teaching and have predominantly taught upper primary levels. Outside of teaching and learning, I am an avid reader, a sometimes-gardener, a collector of books and a professional entertainer for my vivacious 1-year-old Pomeranian. Please don’t hesitate to say hello if you see me around the school.

In addition to our teaching team, in the classroom we will be supported by the incredibly experienced Ms Samantha Rich, as our Targeted Student Learning (TSL) teacher, and also our dedicated Learning Assistant team. The Level Six team looks forward to connecting with families during our various school events. Our upcoming ‘Getting to Know You Interviews’ will help form a critical part of the Home/School Partnership and set your child up for success.  Please keep your eye on Compass for any notices or information regarding the interviews. As always throughout the year, we encourage you to contact us if you have any queries regarding your child’s learning or wellbeing.

We are looking forward to a successful year ahead,

The Level 6 Team.
