International Men's Health Week

International Men's Health Week is celebrated every year around the world in the middle of June. It is an important opportunity to highlight the importance of men's health, and to promote and support the health and wellbeing of men and boys in our communities.

Men's Health Week focuses on not just physical health, but also men's mental health and emotional wellbeing. During the week, we highlight the health challenges faced by men in Australia to improve the physical, emotional, and mental health of men and boys.

As a members of our allied health team and school community the one thing, we would like you to remember when it comes to Men’s health is that it is OK to seek help - don't try to do everything on your own or bury problems. Talk to your school friends, family, and work friends.

How can I improve my health?

  • Eat a healthy diet – Follow the Australian guide to healthy eating.
  • Exercise – 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week.
  • Avoid risky habits – Drugs, Smoking and Alcohol.
  • Manage stress.
  • Stay Sun safe – Slip, Slop, Slap
  • Immunisation – flu shot and COVID-19 vaccinations and booster vaccinations.
  • Regular visits to your doctor for a full health check.

When should I seek help?

  • Be active in seeking help if you're not feeling well or you have a problem that doesn't go away.
  • Book in regular health check-ups.
  • It's okay to ask for help, don't try and do everything on your own.
  • Don’t be afraid to talk about the hard subjects.
  • Talking to a health professional, friends and family may help resolve an issue.
  • Check in with your mates.
  • Be proactive in encouraging the men / boys in your life to seek medical assistance and advice.
  • Don't leave it until it's too late to ask for help.

Where can I get help?

We are also lucky to have our very own doctor at CSC. Doctor Vajna Rafeek is at our College every Friday and can assist students with a range of different health services and advice.
