Genesis 3 – Wednesday 1st June

After a long two years battling the challenges presented by Covid and remote learning, CSC was proud to finally stage our inter school music concert ‘Genesis 3’ earlier this term. One of the largest events on our Performing Arts calendar, Genesis sees staff and students from four of our surrounding network schools participate in a night of musical excellence, showcasing the skills of our rock bands. The night was hosted by two Year 12 students, one from Hume Central and our very own Leon Norwood (12E). The evening was a brilliant showcase of the talents of young people in our wider College community and we are very grateful for the opportunity to connect with other inspiring musicians. A huge thank you to Ms Gorman and the music staff for taking the time to organise and run a great concert, and encouraging our Performing Arts students to share our hard work.

VCE Music Recital – Wednesday 8th June

As part of the Unit 3 Music Performance assessment schedule, the Year 12 Music class gathered in the PAC to perform their group and solo pieces as part of their Outcome 1 SAC. This was an opportunity for students to share their talents and skills with their family and friends in a safe and supportive environment. Students were assessed by a panel of VCE Music teachers to get targeted and specific feedback in the lead up to their end of year performance exam. We are very proud of the Year 12 class and encourage them to keep working hard in their VCE Music journey.

MAD Night – Music And Drama – Thursday 16th June

On Thursday 16th June music and drama students from Years 7-12 participated in our first MAD Night – a concert showcasing the skills of our Music and Drama students. The night began with some great solo music performances from some of our senior students, as well as two feature items from the Year 9 and 10 Drama classes. The Year 9 class presented their tableaux work as part of the ‘Mime’ unit, and the Year 10s presented their short play ’10 Reasons Not To Be In A Play’. Both performances were well received and entertaining for the whole audience. The second half of the concert saw all kinds of musical bands come together to perform a range of songs. The sound and lighting were fantastic and everyone really enjoyed the evening. Thank you to the Performing Arts teachers for organising everything.

School of Rock – Thursday 23rd June

On Thursday the 23rd of June, two year 8 CSC bands went to perform in the School of Rock 2022 concert and did a wonderful job representing the Music department at Craigieburn Secondary College. The School of Rock concert was a safe space for people in the music community to encourage each other and watch each other perform and the performers in the bands that went had a great time.

On the 23rd of June 2022 we went to the School of Rock music presentation which happens once a year. Throughout the day we saw music from all of Melbourne including primary schools as well as secondary schools of course. The music was absolutely uplifting and energising. For our school we performed ‘Chameleon’ by Barry Hancock and ‘Warning’ by green day. As well as showing off the songs we had been working on we got to see the talent everyone had. Great job to everyone who performed especially CSC!!

On Thursday 23rd June, the year 8 music bands went on a trip to the 'School of Rock’ competition and performed on stage for 48 Victorian schools. They represented the Craigieburn Secondary College music community wonderfully while working together and having a fun time playing as a band. Great job year 8s and a big thank you to all of the music teachers that helped make it happen!
