The Impact of Giving Report 2020

The Impact of Giving 2020 report has just been completed and will be emailed and posted to community members soon. Click here to see an advance copy!

In it, we acknowledge and thank all those who donated gifts of time or funds during 2020. We also celebrate two important milestones - the tenth anniversary of The Farrall Centre and The Mather Endowment Trust. Both made possible thanks to community philanthropy, and both continuing to have a vast impact on students and learning today.

We thank all in our community for supporting Friends’. We appreciate every gift, and every donor. Your gift matters.

Friends’ Together 2021 - coming soon!

Our annual giving program, Friends’ Together, is taking a different approach this year. As part of the Campus Redevelopment transformation of the Commercial Road campus, we are asking our community to contribute to the construction of the new Sports Centre being built adjacent to Friends’ Health & Fitness. All donations to the Building & Development Fund will contribute to this vital uplift to sport at Friends’. More information will be shared with the community soon.

To see more information about the Sports Centre and the Campus Redevelopment Phase 1 visit our website.

After more than 40 years of dedicated service as a Trustee, Stan Mather (1949) has advised he will step down from this position. We thank Stan for his enduring service, expertise and support. Stan has been a loyal supporter of the School for many years, as a student, parent and grandparent. The Mather family has been involved with Friends’ School since its inception and Stan’s loyalty is further evidence of the deep connection with the School. His life and work embody the Quaker saying, ‘Let your lives speak.’

Phillipa Maxwell (Edwards) 1986 was appointed a Trustee in 2014 and resigned from this position in 2020. We are grateful for Pip’s contribution to the School as a former student (head girl 1986) and parent (of Georgia, Rosie and Madeline) and as a Trustee and wish her well in future endeavours.

We are delighted to advise that Steve McQueeney (1978) has been appointed as a Trustee. Steve is a former student, past staff member, past Board member and past parent, with children Sam graduating from Friends’ in 2008 and Max in 2010. Steve joins existing Trustees Christine Howard (1963), David Asten (1962) and Ann Gould (1980), all of whom have had children attend Friends’ School.

The Friends’ School Old Scholars’ Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 1920 to assist children of Old Scholars affected by service in the First World War. In the 1980s, 1990s and 2010s, the Trustees amended the objectives of the Fund to meet contemporary needs. Renamed the FSOSM Grant, it now provides financial assistance to year 10 students continuing to Clemes, who have an Old Scholar connection (e.g. parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle). Visit our website for more information. Applications for the 2022 Grant open in July 2021.
