Principal's Report

Today we have sent home envelopes with a summary of our 2022 parent contributions and your current family credit balance.  These forms need to be completed and returned by next Thursday.  Please see the 2022 parent contributions page for more information.

A huge thank you to all the families who contributed to making our Raffle fundraiser such a huge success!  Over $3500 in donated vouchers were raffled last week, with seven lucky prize winners.  In total, the school raised $10, 084.82 from 6821 tickets sold!  This is a wonderful effort and we are extremely grateful to all our donors and ticket sellers!  A big thank you also to Emma from Lili Pili, Angela from Settlers and Elissa from Ski Plus for their generosity in providing rewards for students to strive towards. These vouchers were highly sought after and there have been many students enjoying a milkshake, parmi dinner and some super cool socks!

Today was the final day of our 2021 Swimming Program. Our sincere thanks again to Steph, Karen, Krista, Helen, Kai and Claire for all their work with our students and to all staff and volunteers for their assistance. This has been a very successful program, with lots of positive feedback from students and staff.

Tuesday’s Transition Day provided a great deal of excitement as students met with their 2022 classes and teachers.  Throughout the day, students participated in a range of activities, designed to allow students and teachers to get to know each other.  At the secondary college, our Year 6 students also had the opportunity to familiarise themselves with their new routines, classes and teachers.  While the students all had a great day, we were also really pleased to hear great feedback about their participation and conduct on the day.

Congratulations to Emily and the students of Prep, 1/2 and 2/3 on last week’s music performance.  Despite the heat and tiredness, they all did extremely well and provided a wonderful performance of their learnt pieces.  Many thanks also to our audience.  It was lovely to have so many families attend and we really appreciate your support.

On Monday at 9am, we will have our final assembly for the year.  This will be followed by a special volunteer morning tea to thank the many volunteers that have helped us over the year.  We are extremely grateful for all the support our school receives throughout the year and for the contribution volunteers make to the school, such as providing governance through School Council and other committees, assisting with our breakfast program and helping out with our learning, sports or camps programs.   If you are able to join us, we would love to see you.

A reminder that all library books are now due. If you haven’t already done so, please ensure these are returned to school TOMORROW.

Casual Education Support Vacancies: We are currently seeking expressions of interest for the position of casual Education Support (ES).  The role of an ES includes providing basic physical and emotional care for students and communication with students and teachers regarding learning tasks and routine activities.  Interested persons are encouraged to contact the office on 57544354.  Please note that all employees must have a current Working with Children’s Check and undergo a police check.   Vaccination for COVID19 is also mandatory.

Our sincere thanks to Falls Creek Coaches for their support in providing the transport, free of charge, to next week’s performance in Tawonga.  On Tuesday, students in Years 5 & 6 will travel to the Tawonga Hall to attend the performance by Tawonga Primary School and to enjoy a picnic lunch in the park.

Our Year 6 graduation will be celebrated at 11am on Wednesday 15th December.  Parents and carers are invited to join us for morning tea at the BER building, followed by the graduation ceremony.  Attending families are asked to please enter via Tennis Court Avenue and to check in on arrival.  Following the ceremony, students will walk to the pool for a pizza lunch and Pool Party.

On Thursday 16th December, at 11am, the Spookie Ukies will provide an end of year performance in the under-cover area.  Interested parents and carers are also welcome to attend.

Also on Thursday, at 1.30pm, a number of our students from Prep - 2/3 will also visit Kiewa Valley House to sing some Christmas Carols.  If you are able to assist with walking students to this event and have a current WWCC and double - vaccination status, please speak to Emily, or myself.

A reminder to all families that on Friday the 17th December, we will finish at the earlier time of 2.20pm.  To celebrate the last day of term, we will also be having a casual dress day.  There is no gold coin collection required, and students are expected to come dressed in sun smart clothing and shoes suitable for school (no thongs).
