Building Update

Photo taken 07.02.2023.

This week some of the site fences came down and part of the front of the school was reopened to our community, much to the delight of our students. It is wonderful to see them all enjoying playing in the additional space. By the beginning of next week, the remainder of the upper level on Balmoral Avenue will also be reopened to the school giving our students back some more of their play spaces.  Planting and additional works will resume in term 2 to complete these areas.

The building program is continuing to make progress for completion of the buildings, at the end of term 1. The completion of all building and landscaping is planned for the end of term 2.  They are currently 1 week behind schedule; however, Newton Manor is working additional hours to make up this time.

Within the next 2 weeks the metal cladding should be installed on the exterior of the buildings which will give us all a better idea of what the build will look like. Internal plastering will also begin in the next few weeks. The learning spaces are looking amazing and will allow for eight larger and brighter classrooms.

As part of the building program a new hand washing basin was installed in our OSHC kitchenette to ensure compliance with council regulations. The builders are also assisting us with some minor works we require to repair some of our drinking troughs and taps around the school that have been damaged and aged over time.
