On Thursday 15th of Feburary, the Year 9's went to the NGV Internation.  We all took the train from South Morang station to Flinders Street Station. The students passed their time on the train by talking with friends and listening to music. When we finally got off at Flinders Street Station, students could stretch their legs and begin their walk to the NGV International.

When we did arrive at the exhibition, it was breathtaking! The NGV  exhibited different types of art, that none of us have ever seen or heard about. The first piece of art we viewed was about scent, and the smell of different combinations of natural smells, and each piece of art had a different scent. Everyone was surprised and delighted about their interesting and interactive work. There were many unique pieces of art exhibited at the NGV International, and it was so extraordinary to see.

Once finished at the NGV Internation, we all walked to the Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia. NGV Australia  showcased many Australian art, and we saw many paintings from the 1880's. It was really amazing to see how people lived during this time in Australian history, and the roles of women and men.

The day started off with us catching a train to Flinders Street Station from South Morang Station. we were having quiet a smooth ride, until we had an unexpected stop at Clifton Hill Station. We were stuck at the station for around one and half hours to two hours! We were all glad once we had made it onto a bus and into the city!

Once we arrived at the city, we were separated into three groups to go buy lunch, and we had plenty on offer! We had to choose from 7/11, Lord of the Fries, Sushi, Starbucks, Ben and Jerry's and Boost Juice. Once we had finished our lunch, we were off to the National Gallery of Victoria! Although we were there for only a short amount of time, because of our pesky train delays, we were still able to see some amazing and beautiful pieces of art. Particularly, we viewed art that related to our novel for English, 'Skylarking'.

Some of the artwork we were shown pictured how life was for females in the late 19th century, and it was incredibly interesting to see how life was for females. I also found it interesting that of all the art picturing young women, the artists were actually male! So it was intriguing to see how women were perceived by men during this time period. We saw other artworks that depicted the beach and the natural landscape of Australia. Overall, the day was a great and unforgettable experience!
