Year 9 School Captains

We are your 2018 School Leaders

It has been a busy Term 1 for us as School Captains. We have been lucky enough to be involved with many things within our school. Our first task was to run middle year’s school photos. That was fun, as we got to be in charge of the day,  but also got the opportunity to introduce new students to the school. We were also given the responsibility of speaking at the first school council meeting, help collect Easter Raffle donations and help run Clean Up Australia Day. We have also been attending weekly meetings where we contribute and discuss our ideas for the school and upcoming events. Our final task of Term 1 is to run the middle years assembly.

During the Term we had a whole week dedicated to Year 9 Transition, with a strong focus on our future. That was really exciting as we got to experience opportunities they wouldn’t usually get until after Year 12. We were given the option to choose which school we would like to visit on the Tuesday, and it was between Melbourne University and NCAT. At Melbourne University we got to look at the buildings and one of lecture rooms. At NCAT, we got to go on a tour around each of the buildings. On the Wednesday the whole cohort ventured to RMIT and Melbourne Polytechnic. They were both great experiences, where we were informed about the programs each school has to offer. We went to the Career Expo at Plenty Ranges on Thursday, where we went to various stalls and ask questions about what the options that we have for after year twelve. For the final day of transition week, the entire year 9 cohort when to La Trobe University. We were able to walk around and tour the campus. Transition week was a very educational week that the year nines got a lot out of.

We have really enjoyed Term 1 and are looking forward to the rest of the year!
