Term 3 in Italian

Ciao a tutti! / Hi everyone!

We hope everyone is enjoying their time at school and looking forward to making many more new Friends = Amici in our big community.

One big word, Wominjeka, Benvenuti, Welcome, is finally camping in front of our school main entrance, adding a splash of green and the hope that we can live peacefully together while respecting all the traditions of this land and welcome all languages that contributed to make this Australia. It is very beautiful = bellissimo to see!

As for the Italian language program in this term here are the main aspects that we’ll be working on:

  • Prep - are revising and expanding their new vocabulary. Members of family, pets and friends will be among the topics they’ll be investigating.
  • Grade 1 - are exploring the solar system. The little chick who helped us learning the days of the week is now visiting the planets involved with those words. Will the ‘Pulcino’ meet any friends / amici? We hope so, each class will contribute and give their flavour to the story… (talking about flavours, we have also asked students if they can bring to school a FEW samples of their favourite pasta, can you help? Thanks).
  • Grade 2 - are now ‘armed’ with the words “has = ha” and “is = e`” and are ready to present and describe their personal collection of animals. They will be elaborating their first descriptive sentences.
  • Grade 3 - will be learning to present and tell about a classmate. They will ask questions and prepare a little profile of their friend, and then share it with their class.
  • Grade 4 - will explore places and the modes of transport. They’ll select their favourite places and vehicles, then share them with classmates and finally present their little stories.
  • Grade 5 - are presenting a classmate to the class, after they ask, organise and prepare all information about their peers. They’ll agree on a set of information which they want to gather and present to their class, after a focus on the conjugation of the verbs.
  • Grade 6 - continue to revise and expand their Italian vocabulary and prepare one of their peers’ presentations to summarise the language covered. They’ll reflect on their best practice with the language and on the strategies which can help them to improve their linguistic expertise.

We hope that we can all enjoy the activities, Buon Lavoro / happy activities!

Thank you / Grazie,

Kerrie & Giuliano
