P&F Update

Welcome back to Term 3! We hope you had a relaxing mid-year break and have come back to school refreshed and ready for fun.

Glowtastic Disco Party fundraiser

The Glowtastic Disco Party will be held in the Holy Spirit Parish Hall on Tuesday 8 August 2023. (The day before the school closure day on Wednesday 9 August).

·       Preps 1s and 2s: 5pm-6.15pm

·       Grades 3-6: 6.30pm-8pm.

This is our major fundraising event for Term 3. There is no entry fee on the night BUT a minimum of $15 needs to be raised through your myprofile page for the Glowtastic disco. Entry to the disco includes glow-in-the-dark sunglasses and a light snack. Students can also win up to 15 awesome automated incentive prizes by fundraising via online sponsorship donations.

Students have received a sponsorship book with instructions on setting up their cybersafe, online fundraising profile at www.australianfundraising.com.au . This is an entirely online fundraiser; no cash to be returned to school please.

Extra incentives to fundraise:

·       Online Golden Coins – complete fun online tasks to redeem an extra $75 towards your prize credit.

·       Monty the Monstar’s Bonus Prizes – achieve milestones to unlock Monty’s bonus prizes.

·       $10,000 JB HI FI Spending Spree for one organisation’s highest fundraising student – it could be you!

·       Our school will win an extra $5,000 if we have the highest average fundraised amount per student in 2023.

·       A Play Station 5 Gaming Bundle – see your child’s sponsorship booklet for more information

We will also require parent volunteers to help the event run smoothly. Please keep an eye out for the sign up via Class Dojo.

P&F Trivia Night Wrap-up

A packed house of Holy Spirit staff, parents and friends enjoyed our 2023 Trivia Night on Saturday 24 June. We are delighted to announce that the event raised a whopping $3,977 for our school! Thank you to our sponsors for your support.

Lob-a-choc and FREE DRESS DAY – Friday 18 August

Students are invited to wear free dress on Friday 18th August in exchange for a donation for the lob-a-choc stall at the Fete. The donation can be a family sized block, or a bag/box of chocolates. Please note: absolutely NO NUTS allowed (this includes chocolates that contain Nutella filling).

P&F meeting at 7.30pm on Tuesday 25 July

Our next meeting will be held 7.30pm-8.30pm on Tuesday 25 July in the P&F room (old Art room across from the Church). We would love to welcome some new faces, particularly if you are a Prep parent or new to the school this year. It’s a great way to meet new people and find out what’s happening ‘behind the scenes’ in the Holy Spirit community.

Scholastic Book Club Rewards Program

Did you know that for every purchase you make through the Scholastic Book Club, we receive rewards points to put towards books for the school?

With the rewards balance, we have purchased so many new books for our literacy learning. Big Books, readers and decodable readers for our 1/2 students to use. These new readers are currently being labelled and will make their way into the classrooms for our students to take home and enjoy this term. Here is a picture of what we were able to purchase with the rewards (some of the books are not in the picture as they have not arrived). Each box contains 150 reader books - we were able to purchase 4 boxes!!

Question: How’s the fundraising for the Ninja course going? My kids are so excited!

Answer: Good news, we’re (nearly) halfway there! So far this year we have raised an amazing $14,731. Our aim is to raise $30,000 this year. Every little bit counts, so please support our Glowtastic Disco Party.
