Principal's Report

Term 2, Week 5

Dear Parents and Carers,

Catholic Schools Week

This week is Catholic Schools Week! It is an opportunity for us to reflect upon and celebrate Catholic Schools and the commitment to every young person in our care. This year's theme is "Renew in Hope" which reflects our mission of providing a faith-filled future for our students. On Thursday, our School and Vice Captains will represent our school at the Diocesan Catholic Schools Week Mass in Armidale.

Due to our very heavy schedule of Eisteddfod items over the next two weeks, we have limited school celebrations to our Family Mass this Saturday night at the Church. We warmly invite all families to join us for this Mass at 6.00pm on Saturday night.

Kindergarten Literacy and Numeracy

In Week 3, we hosted an information session for Kindergarten parents of the new English and Maths syllabus. Thank you to those parents who were able to come along to reflect upon the learning of our Kindergarten students.

Living Well, Learning Well

Over the past few years, we have adopted the Living Well, Learning Well Framework which works on the principle of the Three Rules for Living; I am Safe, I am a Learner and I am Valued, Cared For and Respected. This framework has the central focus of ensuring that every child has the opportunity to experience life at school in a positive way.

On Monday 19th June at 6.00pm we are hosting an information session for all parents in regards to wellbeing and social & emotional learning of our children. This is an area of growing complexity for young people and parents alike.

Our information session will focus on the Living Well, Learning Well rules for living and how we can best support the young people in our care in regards to social, emotional or behavioural difficulties. This will include emotional regulation, anxiety around attending school and dealing with situations where we are unsafe.

I would encourage all families to consider attending this session as this is a growing area of concern in our school community. We can only make a difference by working together to ensure our students feel safe, valued and respected.

School Uniform

Following on from the school survey which was conducted at the end of last year, our two parent representative bodies; the P&F and School Advisory Committee, have been working together to deliver a summer uniform alternative for girls in readiness for Term 4.  It has been decided that a shirt (yellow) and skort (bottle green) option will be available as an alternative to the girls summer dress. These will be available for purchase from Barrakets in the near future. A new uniform policy which reflects these uniform changes and feedback from the survey will be published before the end of term.

Have a great week!

Nick
