New Furniture for K-4 Campfires

LEARNING SPACES  - Campfires, Waterholes and Caves

On Wednesday we received our new furniture for our Campfires in K-4.

What are Campfires, Waterholes and Caves? These are learning spaces our teachers are using in their classrooms. These learning spaces are based on the research of educational futurist David Thornburg, to improve student engagement and learning.

The campfire is a space where a group meets to gather knowledge and instructions.

In the campfire learning space, the experts are not only teachers and guest speakers, but can also be students who share their learning with peers and other teachers.

Waterholes are spaces where students work in groups to complete tasks. They are encouraged to discuss, collaborate and share ideas. Watering holes are informal spaces where students can share information, knowledge and discoveries. Students can learn from others as well as teach and help others.

The cave is a space where students work independently to complete tasks. The cave is a private space where a student can think, reflect, and transform learning from external knowledge to internal belief.

When a student is working in a cave, we encourage and respect their private, quiet, individual time.

Mary Poppins  - 27th March.

Due to the Coronavirus restrictions our excursion to Mary Poppins has been cancelled.

Woodwind Instruments

We have had some families enquire about music lessons with the NECOM Music Teachers who come to St Pat's on a Monday.

Mr James McKay is available to discuss music lessons for Woodwind instruments only on a Monday afternoon after the school music lessons. These private Monday afternoon lessons would be organised through NECOM.

Please phone Mrs Pittman at school and make a time to see Mr James McKay on a Monday after 1:30pm if you would like to discuss Woodwind lessons for your child.

Mini Minstrels

We are very excited that our 2020 program is K-6 and our Yr 5 & 6 will be learning the recorder with Mrs Mackson. The recorders were donated to the school by the  Rural Aid Program.

Our Year 3-6 Choir & our Year 5 & 6 Recorder groups have been registered for the 2020 Eisteddfod.

CRUNCH & SIP

Crunch & Sip is a time in the morning block for students to ‘refuel’ on vegetables, salad and fruit and ‘rehydrate’ with water.
