All The Students Online, Now Put Your Hands Up!

As we continue to adapt and adjust to Remote Learning again, this week our wonderful Naranga students have yet again found a silver lining and reminded us that there are many positives to this new online teaching/learning world we find ourselves in!

But what does that have to do with Music I hear you ask? 

What better way to maintain our connection and a sense of engagement than through communication and the power of music?! 

In our LIVE Google Meet sessions for Music this week a number of students have taken advantage of being able to ask me to sing their favourite songs from class! So what, you say? Well, because of the nature of this Remote Learning experience I can not only sing that song with your child LIVE in our Meet, but I have also been a busy little Queen B myself (another Beyoncé reference, I couldn't resist) and been making videos for our learners! 

Thomas from Junior Spector has been requesting I read this story every week since I first introduced it back on-site at school! He certainly is a Rockin' little Robin so I'm very pleased to provide him access to this song tale whenever he's in the mood to rock!

Check out Rockin' Robin, a classic that was originally recorded back in 1958, and get bopping with Thomas!

Like Thomas, young William from Junior Athiniotis was keen to request his favourite rhyme from class too! This is our most used rhyme for one very simple reason (other than it's educational value) that students love it! It's silly and fun and we can learn so much with this adorable little rhyme. Join in with Grandma's Glasses and mix it up! Note my pause in delivery to build anticipation! Sometimes there's no pause and it's very quick, sometimes the children are absolutely itching for that second verse to unleash! We explore dynamics and expression and always have a giggle! 

So, while we continue on the Remote Learning journey, let's take advantage of the wonders of technology! If your learner has a favourite song or game from class, perhaps a little ditty they just can't get out of their head or that they need a little help to remember, jump into our Music Google Classroom and send me your requests or join our LIVE Meets and put your hand up!
