Principal's Report

Dear parents, carers and students,

On Monday we held our first Koorie Connections lunch hosted by our KESO (Koorie Engagement Support Officer), Alan Johnson. He welcomed the students to ask questions and talk about what they would like to do as a group in the future. Some ideas raised were learn more about connections in community, bush tucker and hunting. Meetings will now be held once a month.

As part of the School Review the SRC met with two of the review team members. A group of Senior students outside of the SRC also met with two reviewers. Students were asked to talk about something they have learnt and how the staff at school support them to engage with their learning. The reviewers were impressed with the way the students voiced their thoughts and feelings.

Every Day Counts

Promoting good school attendance habits is one of the easiest and most effective ways of supporting students to reach their potential in school.  Naranga School is dedicated to supporting every student to be at school everyday and we ask our parent and carer community to get behind this expectation.  When students miss school regularly, they miss out on learning the fundamental skills that will set them up for success in the later years of school.  This can also be true when students may miss one or two sessions because of early pick up or a late arrival to school.  School hours are 9am to 3pm.

As much as possible, please try to avoid scheduling appointments during school hours. Over time, these lesson times lost do have a negative impact on student learning outcomes.
