A ROCK POOL ENVIRONMENT

The last few weeks our Lower Juniors have been exploring the environment of a rock pool and sea creatures found in this environment. They learnt about the special relationship between an anemone and the clown fish through the story, Anemone is Not The Enemy by Anna McGregor.

Both sea creatures rely on each other for survival. The clown fish relies on the anemone for protection and shelter. It’s protected from the anemone’s sting. It has a special immunity unlike other sea creatures. In return, the clown fish cleans the anemone of algae and use its bright colours to lure fish to the anemone where they are stung by the anemone’s poisonous tentacles and eaten.

The students did a great job to follow instructions to make an anemone and clown fish for their rock pools.

EARTH HOUR : Saturday 25th March  8:30 pm to 9:30 pm

Students learnt how protecting our planet matters by listening to My Earth, My Home by Yolanda Kondonassis

This is a great book for students to talk about different environmental issues and ways we can problem solve.

It's time to think about our planet. You can join others in Australia and overseas by

turning off any non-essential lights or electrical appliances that you are no longer using for one hour to show your support. Make sure you share the moment in a safe environment by keeping other essential lighting on e.g. lighting that affects public safety.
