Inquiry Overview - Term Two

The Inquiry unit for Term Two is 'The Senses'. Throughout this unit students will develop their understanding of different objects, and how they are made of different materials.

They will learn to consider theses objects and materials relate to the 5 senses of sight, sound, smell, touch and taste. Through scientific inquiry, students will investigate how different materials can be changed or combined with other materials in a variety of ways, including by mixing, and learn to use their senses to investigate these changes. Throughout this term students will engage in different scientific experiments and will complete their own science journal to record materials, their observations and outcomes. Students thoroughly enjoyed watching the Mentos in coke experiment this week. Thank you to Mrs Hall for being a scientist for the afternoon!

Mother's Day Celebrations

On Friday 6th May 2022 we held our Mother's Day activity afternoon. It was so lovely to have many mums, grandmas, aunties, sisters and special visitors join us on this day.

Students enjoyed visiting the year two classrooms and decorating their own special tea pot with pencils, glitter, stars and cellophane and placing a tea bag in their tea pot ready for an afternoon cup of tea.

Take Home Readers and Spelling Books

As part of InitiaLit-2, students have free-choice of short and extended chapter books to take home and read. Year Two students are able to choose readers from school to take home and read nightly. Students in Year Two are also free to choose books from home to read each night if they wish. Students who choose their readers on a Monday are required to return them the following Monday. After reading, please record the name of the book and the length of time reading in the student diary for the day.

InitiaLit-2 suggests students practice spelling words at home each week. These spelling words will reinforce the words used in the classroom program. Instructions for the Spelling book are on the front cover of the Spelling book.

Tissues

Thank you to those families that have sent along a box of tissues to be used in your child's classroom. We would love for you to consider sending one in if you are yet to do so.
