Term 2 has already been packed full of creativity and exploration.
Students across all year levels have been working hard to prepare work for the Streeton art show which occurred last weekend. It was honestly so hard to choose just a few art works for the show. Everyone has been blowing me away with their willingness to have a go, experiment and create something unique.
Thank you to all the families who were able to come along and show support.
We received so much positive feedback from the exhibition about our students work. Shout out to the following students who exhibited in the show and especially to Andre FA who won 1st prize in his age group for his butterfly.
Well done Andre!

This term Foundation students have been exploring acrylic paints and using their knowledge of lines and shapes to create wiggly worm tunnels and draw their worms. In the coming weeks, foundation students will continue to experiment with acrylic paint and what it can do, trying their hand at various painting and printing techniques.
Have you ever felt a rush of happiness and contentment? Like everything is right in the world? That’s JOY. Joy is a bit different than happiness, because happiness only lasts for a fleeting moment, while joy is something that is built up within a person and endures even through problems and hardship.
Year 1 and 2 students have been bringing the joy with a project focused on what brings them joy and how can we show joy through colours and shapes. After reading the story 'Joy' by Corrinne Averiss we painted our own swoosh with water colour paints, printed bubbles with bubble wrap and painted colours with acrylic paint.
You can listen to the story here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ni_lxS6Xsy8&ab_channel=GreenmeadSchool
Term 2 has been busy for the 3/4's as we commenced work on our portfolio piece. We explored the artworks of Winslow Homer, an American artist known for his seascape paintings and his ability to express a variety of weather in his paintings. Students discussed how they can tell what the weather might be like in each painting, describing, smooth calm seas or churning crashing waves.
Students have each chosen what type of weather they would like to express in their work, using appropriate colours to paint the ocean with acrylic paints and a sky with water colours. These pieces have started to come together with amazing results with the fine details to come together over the next week.
Year 5 and 6 students have been cementing their knowledge of the elements of art in their work this term. Linking in to their inquiry topic of space, students have created drawings which represent planets. They have been practicing shading to create value and form in their drawing. As the term continues we will continue to develop drawing skills and techniques in a variety of artworks.
