I hope you have had a lovely holiday and a great start to the term.

A little flashback of the last term…

In week 8, the students enjoyed a special origami craft activity to celebrate the Harmony Day week during their Japanese classes. Please have a look at the fantastic origami work!

Here is the term 2 overview…

Foundation:

Foundation students will continue to develop their Japanese vocabulary such as animals, numbers, fruits, tastes and requests through a fun story unit ‘Juice Bar’. They are also going to participate in the story dialogue as the teacher tells the story entirely in Japanese with lots of visuals and gestures.

Year 1&2

In term 2, Year 1 and 2 students are going to learn Japanese phrases and mnemonics (sound effects and animal sounds) through a famous Russian folk story called ‘The Giant Turnip’. The students will be joining the story-telling as they predict and learn the story with the help of a variety of props and gestures.

Year3&4

Year 3 and 4 students will continue to develop their communicating skills in Japanese through a lot of fun activities using the adjectives which they have learnt in term 2. In addition, they will work on their Hiragana script Belt Challenge! To learn the Hiragana script, they are to participate in a lot of hands-on activities and games.

Year 5&6

Year 5 and 6 students will continue to revise and develop all the macro skills (reading, writing, listening and writing) in term 2. They are going to start off with revising their self-introductory phrases and extend their Japanese skills through the unit ‘Primary Schools in Japan’. The students will have an opportunity to learn the features of Japanese primary school and compare them with their school culture.
