HSC MINIMUM STANDARDS

Current Year 10 students (HSC 2021) are required to meet the Minimum Literacy and Numeracy Standardsthat have been set up by NESA to be awarded a HSC Certificate. Testing is online. There are three domains: Reading, Writing and Numeracy. Students can have two attempts in a calendar year.

Year 10 students have now all completed their first attempt across the three domains and issued results through Schools Online. Students have received certificates which indicate their level. When the standard is achieved, the certificates could be printed and used as part of a resume or portfolio of achievements.

In order to achieve the minimum standard, students must attain a Level 3 in each domain. Descriptions of the levels in each domain can be accessed NESA Schools Online.

Students who require further attempts will be contacted in Term Four to prepare for their second attempt.

NAPLAN ONLINE

Year 7 and 9 students at Mater Dei successfully completed NAPLAN Online across last week. As a school, we assessed one area per day to transition to the online testing and ensure students were effectively supported in their completion of the testing.

While the media focused on the faults of the online test, at Mater Dei our technical issues were minor and IT staff were on hand to support students who encountered these disruptions.
