Principal's Report

Dear students and families,

It's a sprint to the finish line at the moment for all of the staff and students at Naranga School.  With one week of school to go in 2020, we are nearly all set for the start of term 1. Last night it was a pleasure to be able to celebrate our 2020 graduates at our Graduation Dinner at the Sandhurst Club.  It was only two weeks ago that changing restrictions meant that families could now attend school events.  Our dedicated Pathways Team immediately jumped into action, changed the plans they had already made and organized a dinner and presentation ceremony at our usual graduation venue.  It was worth making the last minutes changes when we  saw all of the happy graduates and their families finishing a difficult year in a positive way.  Thank you to the Pathways staff for making the night happen and good luck to our graduates as they start their lives as young adults.

Transition Day happened on Tuesday this week.  All of the students were able to meet their 2021 classroom teachers and see which students would be in their homerooms.  We were also able to welcome our new families to the school.  Normal transition visits have been heavily impacted by restrictions this year so it was good to be able to run the transition day as we would in a typical year.

Naranga School will be welcoming some new staff to the school in 2021.  Anthony Richards joins us as a classroom teacher in the Senior School.  Some of you may remember Ant from his stint at Naranga in 2020.  Beck Howard joins us in an Education Support Officer role.  Beck has been familiar face around the school this year in a relief capacity.  And finally, I'm very pleased to announce that we have secured an Occupational Therapist to join the Naranga team for next year. Sinead O'Brien joins the staff to further strengthen our multidisciplinary team and provide a further level of expertise to our student support.

With new team members joining us, it also means that we must sadly say goodbye to others.  Zoe Stokes is leaving us for a position at Patterson Lakes SC.  Kelly Peters is moving on to Cranbourne East PS. Louise Downie retires after a long career in education with the last 9 and a half years spent at Naranga.  Rose Hofer retires after 25 years of service to Naranga School.  I want to acknowledge  Zoe, Kelly, Louise and Rose and thank them for all of the support they've given to the students and staff of the school in their time here.  We wish them all the best in their future endeavours.

One week to go!
