Principal's Welcome

Principal's Welcome

I hope everyone has had a safe and relaxing holiday period.

Welcome back to all our families and students, and a warm welcome to our new families. I am looking forward to a fresh start to our new school year and I am excited to get off to a great start.

2022 will be the year of 'Community Consultation and Collaboration' where we will be focusing on building strong relationships between the school and our families and students. Our college value of community will be visible in the work that we do together, building a culture of high expectations, safety and support.

We will be inviting parents and students to meet and discuss important school issues in developing shared expectations, including;

  • Community diversity - getting to know each other through community days
  • School safety concerns including altercations and facilities
  • Consequences for digressions
  • Parent and student forums to discuss community involvement in College life, student learning and wellbeing.

Student learning priorities

Towards the end of 2021 the school leadership team, along with the 2022 student captains, worked together to develop our learning priorities for this year. The school will focus on;

  • Reading across all year levels
  • Numeracy support and extension for high achieving students, as well as those needing to catch up
  • Continuing to build our student wellbeing services and programs
  • Making strong connections with key adults in our community
  • Continuing to build on our strong writing program.

Congratulations and best wishes

I want to congratulate our 2021 year 12 graduates. I am very proud of you all for managing so well, your final years of high school during the COVID lockdowns.  The Dux of the class will be announced at the graduation ceremony on  February 18 although we cant say who yet, we can say that the top ATAR was 99.05.  I encourage all of you to follow your hearts and dreams, and I wish you all the best in your chosen endeavours.

Welcome Interviews

We have begun the 2022 school year with welcome interviews for all students with their form teacher. We held our years 8-11 interviews on Tuesday 1st of February with over 300 families touching base with their child's form teacher and beginning to build the strong relationships we know that will give our students the best start.

Ready to Learn – Uniform, Laptops, Subject resources and materials

Thank you to all the families who have purchased uniforms for the start of the school year. The students are looking great and it really shows a sense of belonging  and pride in our school. I understand and appreciate that for some families the uniform is still being organised for their children, however, we have a target to get all students into full school uniform in the next couple of weeks.

I have been in contact with PSW, our uniform providers, and they assure me that they are fully stocked with all uniform items. PSW have a click and collect option to help mitigate large numbers of people in their store, and to facilitate families to get uniforms in a convenient and safe way. Click and collect uniform orders can be made on the website; www.psw.com.au

A reminder of key uniform items below.

  • Black leather shoes – coloured runners are not permitted
  • White socks
  • College jackets and jumpers only – no hoodies
  • Dresses, navy shorts and pants are the main uniform – PE tracksuits are for PE only.
  • Full PE uniform may be worn on the day students have PE practical classes only. PE uniform tops and tracksuits should not be mixed and matched with other items of uniform.

** Please contact the college if you are having trouble purchasing uniform items.

All students are expected to have a laptop and bring them to school every day. There are a number of options including co-contribution for leasing school provided devices. Please contact the college if you would like further information regarding the co-contribution option.  Many of our subject resources such as texts are computer based. Please refer to your child’s booklist to ensure that all relevant resources have been purchased.

As always, any families who would like support to ensure their child has all the equipment and resources for their learning should contact the college.

Rapid Antigen Tests

A reminder to all families that the allocation of RAT's has been completed. If you do not have yours yet, please ensure your child picks theirs up from the front office early next week.  All students and staff are required to do 2 x RAT's each week, and report a positive result to the school. The next allocation for weeks 3 and 4 will being from 10th February (pending delivery).

Tutoring and Catch Up

We are continuuing our catch up programs for all students who feel that they would benefit from some direct tutoring across any of their subjects. We also have a program to support students who need to strengthen their literacy and numeracy skills.

We have a very settled start to the year with students and staff working together and making connections for a strong learning environment.

Take care and stay safe.

Warm regards,

Kate Morphy
