EXAM Program

The purpose of our examination program (Year 8-12) is to build examination skills, confidence and resilience as learners. Ultimately, we aim to decrease stress and anxiety in VCE Exams and the GAT, however we are mindful that the process has to be scaffolded so that students are supported in their learning and in their approach to examinations.

Exams will be marked/graded using % result on a Learning Task, but this result will not appear in the Semester Report. Students will receive feedback in class (Nov 21, 22) and the emphasis is on learning to perform in exams and a growth mindset. Students will be given an Exam Timetable so they can prepare at home. It is important however, that students are not stressed by this process. Please support your child at home by encouraging study, helping him/her to be organised but also reiterating the purpose of the program.

In Year 8, students will do an English and Maths Exam (Nov 15, 18) be given a study sheet to support them in this process. Students will do revision in class and learn study techniques

In Year 9, students will do an English, Maths and Science Exam (Nov 15, 18, 19) will devise their own study sheet in revision class

In Year 10, students will do an exam for each subject at the end of each semester (Nov 14- 20 for Semester 2). There will be some exam preparation in class but students will be expected to study at home

In Year 11, students will do an exam for each VCE study at the end of each semester (Nov 14-20 for Semester 2) and conditions will emulate those of VCAA. There will be some exam preparation in class but students will be expected to study at home.

In Year 12, VCE students will constantly do practice questions and exams. They have  completed VCAA simulated trial exams in Week 1 of the September school holidays, and are ready to start VCAA written examinations on Wednesday October 30. Good luck to our VCE students!

We wish our Year 12 cohort 'all the best' the future!

Learning Architecture

Throughout the year, teachers have been working hard to re-develop our Learning Architecture which has involved:

Mapping the Victorian Curriculum

Developing tiered Assessed Learning Tasks that are differentiated and extend every member of the class

Designing instructional rubrics to show the student exactly how he/she can succeed

Planning Learning Sequence that is sequential, documented and mapped

All of this will improve student learning outcomes for every student in our school.
